Edwards Cup final 2023

AGC Make it Three in a Row

AGC win the Edwards Cup for the third season in a row.

The superb facility of Pitching In Southern League Cirencester Town FC was the venue for the Women’s Corps Edwards Cup Final on a sunny Gloucestershire afternoon as AGC won the Trophy for the third successive season with a 4-2 success v RLC.

A dramatic final that saw AGC take the upper hand in extra time with Player/Manager Capt Krissy Wright taking hold of the game netting twice in extra time to confirm a hat-trick and Player of the Match Award.

Pte Jodi Imms gave RLC the lead after just five minutes. However, a brave header deep into injury time from L/Cpl Courtney Forrest-Blake levelled matters at the interval.

A minute into the second half RLC re-took the lead with a wonderful strike from the inside boot of L/Cpl Roxy Williams.

Wright netted her first goal on 73 minutes with a composed run by passing the advancing keeper and defender before slotting home into an empty net.
A five minute spell early into the first period of extra time with Wright netting further goals on 92 and 97 minutes.

Colonel John Edwards, who the trophy is named after, and Grant Martin, from our Women’s Corps sponsor F5 made the post-match presentations.

Speaking to BFBS, who covered the Match live on their You Tube channel, after the match Capt Wright said, “Knowing Colonel Edwards for as long as I have, and that the trophy is named after him, I’m absolutely buzzing. I’m ecstatic as a player and as a manager”.

The match officials were: Gaz Dunn (Referee) and Gareth Davis, Ryan Hetherington (Assistants).
