Players and People

The Army Football Association (Army FA) has two mutually supporting and interwoven aims; first, to be a highly respected County supporting The Football Association (The FA) achieve its National Strategy; and second, to be the most effectively run, thriving Army Sport, enhancing the Army’s reputation nationally.

Football is “The Soldier’s Game” with an estimated 10,000 soldiers, over 10% of the Army, participating weekly. Unit teams affiliate across the whole of the UK, Cyprus and Belize. Our Army Challenge Cups attract over 100 unit entries, more than any other Army Sport equivalent, with the Finals played at our own home stadium, the Aldershot Military Stadium. In addition we have qualified match officials, serving Army Football, and in the region of 300 qualified coaches at varying levels of the game. These coaches and officials play a major part in facilitating football in the Army and are also heavily involved in their local communities supporting other FA Counties.
