JOB TITLE:                                       Development Team Coach

1.         Direct support to the Head Coach in the preparation and development of all players and coaching staff in order to support the Army Football Team’s objectives contained within the Army Football Association County Plan.



2.         A qualified FA Coach (FA Level 2 working towards UEFA B) with experience of coaching at Corps Level and a understanding of the Army Football Association structure, which will enable conditions to be set to achieve success within Army Football Representative Teams.   


3.         The post holder works directly to the Head Coach of the Army Football Team and needs to establish a close working relationship with both the Army Team Management and supporting staff.



4.         Desirably coached at Corps level. 



5.         The post holder is responsible for the follow tasks:


a.            Support Head Coach in producing detailed and specific training plans for the continued development of both players and Coaching Staff.


b.            Liaise with Head Coach to ensure there is a coaching environment that is both specific and imaginative to allow players to develop and understand their roles and responsibilities within the Army Football Team.


c.            Continued dialogue with the Head Coach with the aim of ensuring personal and professional development.


d.            Liaise with the Army FDO to ensure best practice is maintained and new methodology and learning techniques are fully utilised. 


e.            In conjunction with the Head Coach continually liaise with Corps and Unit Coaches to ensure the best talent available is being recognised and encouraged to represent the Army Football Association.


f.            Ensure the Army Football Association Ethos is maintained at all times by all Coaching Staff and Players.


  1. Select a suitably manned, qualified and available staff for the development team.


  1. Organise fixtures against the funded and forecasted season plan agreed with the Army FA.  Communicate with the Army Team Secretary at all times to ensure player availability is met and all facilities/resources are available when required.


i. Attend Corps and Unit fixtures as appropriate and ensure that there is a ‘scouting structure’ in place to identify the best talent.


j. Identification of players to represent Army Under 23s team in Inter Services competition.  Produce detailed and specific training plans in preparation for the competition.




6.         The Development Team coach, staff and players will be required to be available for normally a two day period which incorporates a coaching day on a Monday and then match day on a Tuesday (Afternoon or evening) which allows the players and staff to be available for unit football.  Match forecast for the season is likely to be as per the following:
