In early August, 38 (Irish) Bde hosted the 2023 Defence in Northern Ireland Football 6-a-Side Competition in Thiepval Barracks, Lisburn.16 teams from across the Tri-service, both regular and reserve, came together to compete in what is now the largest event in the NI Sports Competition.

2 R IRISH were victorious on the day, defeating 2 RIFLES in a closely contested Cup final, with the latter’s Pte Dylan Kelly picking up Player of the Tournament. Recruiting Group’s Infantry Engagement Team won the secondary Plate competition.

Col Davy Jones, Deputy Chair of the Army FA and Chair of Army Reserve Football, was in attendance present the awards, also officiating in several matches including the Cup Final. Well done to all involved and to SSgt Crozier for the setup and organisation of another successful tournament.
