Army Women v RAF IS

Army Women Remain Unbeaten

Inter Service Victory for The Army Womens Football Team

Army Women remained unbeaten in the Inter Services since 2010 after an excellent 2-1 victory versus RAF at The New Saints FC at Park Hall, near Oswestry.

This was the first time the ground has been used for Armed Forces football and it was an excellent venue and match, watched by around 150 people.

Requiring victory to confirm top spot in the competition the Army Women rode their luck at times in the first half before a resilient display after the interval saw goals from Cpl Olivia Dixon AGC (SPS) and Sgt Zoe Stewart AGC (SPS); the latter with just nine minutes remaining.

The RAF had an excellent first half hitting the post twice and the cross bar but could not score.  The second half saw the Army take control running out 2-1 winners, and in doing so, also taking the 2018 Inter Services Trophy.

It caps an excellent season for the Army representative teams. The Under 23s were successful in the Under 23 Development tournament whilst the Vets also enjoyed success defeating the Royal Navy 4-0 in Aldershot followed by a 6-3 win versus the RAF Vets in Lilleshall.
