Colonel Dave Jones MBE QVRM appointed Vice Chair of the Army FA Board of Trustees

We are delighted to announce that Colonel Dave Jones MBE QVRM has been selected as Vice Chair, Army FA Board of Trustees.

Dave has been a Trustee since 2014, having previously been a co-opted member. He has been involved in Army football for over 25 years as a player, administrator and official. He is currently Chair of Football in the Army Reserve and Army Crusaders FC and will retain these roles going forward.

Dave was recently on mobilized operational deployments, which has provided the opportunity to promote football, most recently spending a year in Baghdad as part of the NATO Mission in IRAQ supporting grassroots football and charities using football as a vehicle. In 2021 he attended an Army FA Referees basic course and is now a level 5 Army FA referee.

Col David will take up the position with immediate effect replacing Col Sam Shepherd who has stepped down from the Board of Trustees due to an overseas deployment. He said of his appointment "I am looking forward to the new role and further supporting the Soldiers Game".

Outgoing Chair Brigadier Niall Stokoe added “I am really pleased with the appointment of Davy as the new Vice-Chair. A player, a coach, a referee and the champion of the Army Reserve element of The Soldiers' Game he brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role, Army Football are lucky to have him”
