9 Regt played some outstanding football all day but they were pushed hard in the semis by 29 Regt, only progressing via a penalty shootout. LCpl Oliver from 9 Regt was also awarded the player of the tournament award with was voted on by the staff and officials. All in all the tournament was a great success, even with teams pulling out the last minute. It was great to see a chef team build in confidence over the competition and admit afterwards that it was the first Corps related event any had been to. It was also refreshing to see some of the teams turn up with coaching staff. This is an area that I wish to improve as a few of the teams could have fared better with a little guidance. I am also pleased to inform you that I will be asking for 8 new players to join us within the Corps set up and have invited a couple of young coaches to join our management team to help mentor them.
