Army FA Update

23 April 2021

In accordance with the Football Association Covid-19 RoadMap, Army HQ and local rules within the Home Nations please find the following update with regards to the return of football within the Army.

Unit Football

Following the ABN (19th Apr) detailing the resumption of Army sport. Army HQ are content for fixtures and training at unit level as long as they are Intra Garrison.

For clarification purposes travel is not permitted outside each units respective garrison. Due to these restrictions the Army Major & Minor Units Challenge Cups are placed on hold until 17th May. We will have further advices by this date regarding the respective competitions.

These rules also apply to all Corps Unit Competitions and League Football.

Return of Corps Football

Corps football is permitted to resume from 17 May 2021 onwards on condition of approval of each individual match by the ASCB following submission of relevant paperwork. In preparation for this return Corps have been instructed to submit their Admin Instruction (AI) and Risk Assessments (RA) to Gill Jones and Kate O’Hara with a lead time of 21 days prior to each fixture.

Mens Corps

The Massey Trophy Corps League competition will re-commence on Friday 21 May. All teams, including matches so far completed, will play each other once only. This applies to both divisions. The winners of Division 2 will be promoted replacing the bottom team in Division 1. The runners up in Division 2 will play off against the second bottom in Division 1.

The Woolwich Cup has been cancelled for 2020/21.

Womens Corps

The Womens League competition will not resume and is cancelled. However, the Edwards Cup will be resumed. The remaining Quarter Final matches will be staged at Bicester on 18 and 19 May. The semi finals will also be played at Bicester on 01 June. The final is confirmed for 23 June at a venue to be confirmed.

Representative Football

The Inter Services competition for Men (including U23) and Women has been cancelled for 2020/21.

Reserve

 There is one outstanding semi final to be completed from the 2019/20 season which was carried over at the time. The aim is to play the match in May/June and the final in July. The final will be hosted in Scotland by Annan Athletic at their Galabank stadium. 

Army Sixes 

The 2020/21 Army Sixes competition is cancelled.

 Referees

All candidates who expressed interest in Referee courses during Covid-19 have, or will be contacted, shortly. Course dates are still to be confirmed and plans are continuing to administer in line with new Football Association course guidelines.

 2021/22 Season

 It is the Army FA’s intention to conclude all outstanding 2020/21 activity by 30 June 2021. Draft dates for the 2021/22 season are currently in the process of being planned.
