Wales Vets 0-5 Army Masters

On Saturday 19 October, the Army Masters travelled to a sun filled Jenner Park stadium in Barry, South Wales to take on Wales Vets FC.

The game started at a frenetic pace and after just two minutes, a great cross by WO1 Chris Watts RS found WO2 Adamson RLC who headed home to make it 1-0. The Army continued to dominate, the midfield three of SSgt Riley RA, WO2 Rizza RS and SSgt Griffiths RE running the show.

In the 10th minute a great corner by WO1 Watts found Capt Steve Davies RA who walloped a volley into the top corner.

On 22 Minutes Cpl Rob Storey RE put Adamson clear through on goal who put the ball on a plate for SSgt Aaron Creighton RS who made it 3-0. The Army continued to press high, creating plenty of chances and just before halftime a poor clearance from the Wales keeper found the feet of WO2 Riley, who stayed composed from 30 yards out and slotted the ball into an empty net, that sent the Army in at halftime 4 - 0 up.

The second half was a completely different game that saw Wales dominate for the majority of the half. The Army's back four, led by WO2 Alan Jordan RS dealt with everything thrown at them and Goalkeeper Maj Gav Smyth RA was there to assist making three fantastic saves and ensuring the Army didn’t concede.

On the 76 minute SSgt Gaz Loveridge RLC caught Wales napping and hit them on the break, his drilled cross found Adamson, who slotted home from close range, making it five.

Wales continued to press for the last 10 minutes but couldn’t find a way through, the game finished Army Master 5 - 0 Wales Vets.

Thank you to Wales Vets for hosting and good luck for the rest of the season.
