Army Reserve Cup Final 2023

4 Lancs Win Reserve Cup Final

Under the leadership of Army football’s legendary Joe Collins 4 LANCS Secured the 2022/23 Army Reserve Challenge Cup with a 2-1 victory versus holders 6 SCOTS in a match played at the home of National League Aldershot Town on Saturday evening.

A feisty opening in a match refereed by Army Trustee Colonel Dave Jones saw LCpl Jake Swarbrick take the lead for Lancs in the third minute. The match was level at the interval due to Marin Orr’s goal just before the half hour mark.

Chances at either end after the break were to avail and, with a penalty shoot out seeming likely, Kgn Dave Mann popped up with a header from close range to secure the the trophy for 4 LANCS with just six minutes remaining.

LANCS’ captain Cpl Kiel Brennan was awarded the Player of the Match.

Army FA Vice President Major General Aidan Smyth made the post match presentations.

Thank you to Aldershot Town for excellent hosting of the event.

4 LANCS will now play the new Army Challenge Cup winner 3 PARA later in the year in the Super Cup Final.
