6 REGT RLC WIN INAUGURAL UK NORTH WOMENS CUP

The inaugural UK North Women’s Cup Final was held at Catterick Stadium on 29 March and saw the current league leaders DMG(N) take on 6 Regt RLC....

During an extremely tight first half both teams had chances, however the goalkeeping was outstanding and both keepers deserve credit.  With the score 0-0 at half time both management teams set about changing formations in the hope of breaking the opposition down. During an extremely hard fought second half both teams showed both skill, team work and outstanding fitness levels (it should be remembered that this was nine a side on a full pitch). The game swung constantly and both teams gave their all to the final whistle. In the end 6 Regt came away winners by a 3-2 margin thanks to two late world class goals.  Pte Peplow, 6 Regt was awarded the player of the game trophy, however in reality this could have gone to numerous players.

Both teams are thanked for not only giving their all but for advertising the professionalism of the women’s game.
